Lu flounders in the world. Regularly beat up for being from a Jewish family, she finally finds peace in the African American community in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Years later, Karina, a young journalist from Sweden hears Lu's story and tracks her down in New Mexico. Lu, now in her sixties, influences Karina's life path and nothing is predictable.
